El-Tanur is a restaurant owned and operated by an
Israeli-Arab family. There were about 14 of us and we ordered a stuffed lamb
shoulder and possibly some other dishes for the kids that I do not recall..
Before the lamb shoulder showed up the table got loaded with so many different
kinds of appetizers that I do not even know where to start. There were plates of
hummus, lentils, various kinds of rice and wheat, pickles, olives, hot sauces,
tahini, baba-ganouj and many more. As soon as one plate was empty the excellent
waiting staff, replaced it with a full one. It was a bit funny that my wife had
asked before hand if we can order some of those amazing dips and salads. My
friend Kobi, who had introduced us to this amazing place, told her that was
taken care of. By the
time the main course showed up, I wasn't sure I could eat anything else. It was
however so amazing that I had quite a lot of it. There was no alcohol due to the
religion of the owners, which may be one of the reasons that I remember this is
the greatest eating experience ever! I will make it a point to pass by there at
least once every time I am in that country. Not sure what that cost us as they
wouldn't let me pay, nor participate, not that I am complaining. I have been
blessed with amazing friends.
