Falafel is a delicious street food originating in the Middle East. Traditionally
it is deep fried and though I love falafel, I did not previously try to make it
at home because of that. Last year my wife bought an air fryer and it occurred
to me (after all this time) that I could try to make falafel in it. I finally
did it and it came out much better than I expected. Totally doing that again, so
this is my recipe. |
Preparation: Place parsley, cilantro, shallot and jalapeño pepper
into a food processor.
Add chickpeas and pulse until the chickpeas are finely minced. Do not over do it
- the mixture should be coarse, not smooth.
Refrigerate the mixture for 1/2 - 1 hour.
Shape the falafel mixture into small balls, about 1" (2.5 cm) in diameter.
Arrange a single layer of falafel balls in your air fryer basket and air-fry for
about 15 minutes at 370-380°F (187-193°C). The falafel is done when it's golden
brown and crisp.
