Matilda

OK, so Matilda (the movie) has been around for almost 20 years. So what! I love that movie. Just like most of Roald Dahl’s other stories, it is empowering young children and pointing out the folly of adults. Those adults who are not nasty, or overbearingly pompous, are in reality individuals who had never grown up. The fact that Matilda has special powers and is super intelligent is not really the point of the story, it is just a literary device that is making a relevant point. Anyway, I like that story so much that I stole a little bit of that. In my forthcoming collection of short stories ‘Ronit in the Land of the Giants,’ Ronit is a 9 year old genius who decides that she needs to control her own development and she declares her independence at a Sunday dinner and blackmails her parents into accepting facts. One last point, I intend to be as brief as possible with my reviews. Bottom line: if you have not seen this movie I urge you to do so at your earliest opportunity – for me this one has earned a 10 out of 10 rating.
